I am an unfinished work, and so are many of my projects. This blog is just an odd collection of things I make and do.

Individual Worth

"Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God." (Doctrine and Covenants 18:10)

Whoever is reading this, the worth of your soul is great to God.

I love the rich red velvet of this card.

As always, you may copy it for personal or church use only.
It is proportioned for standard 4"x6" or 2"x3" printing.

YW Nauvoo Temple Handout

There's a wonderful blog, LDS Handouts, where a generous lady called Melanie posts handouts that coordinate with the Young Women's lessons each week. These are a terrific resource and I appreciate her generosity. Our YW president prints them as 2x3 cards, punches a tiny hole in the corner, and gives them to the girls in our ward to put on a ring.  They then have it to look at during the week.

For this week the picture is a black and white of the Salt Lake Temple, with a long quote in front of it.  I wanted to do something with the Nauvoo Temple, since we're in the Nauvoo Temple District, so I came up with one of my own.

The photos of both the temple and the flowers are by Anthony Ford, who is also generous, saying he just wants to share his talent, and the more people who get to enjoy his work, the happier he is.  He does have a copyright, but it's okay to use it for personal use or for church. That said, I now post my card for all those who are interested in using it.  It is sized to use as 2x3 or 4x6 conveniently.

I also have pictures of the Manti, Jordan River, Draper, Mt. Timpanogos, Salt Lake, Oquirrh Mountain, and Oakland temples if anyone is interested. I could easily make up a similar handout for any of them.

Integrity Value Card

Integrity

This card is sized to print at 4x6 inches or scale down to wallet size of 2x3 inches.

Feel free to use it; share it; whatever--as long as you don't charge for it.  If you like these, keep watching as I plan to post a new one each week. I've got the whole set made if anyone needs them immediately for New Beginnings or other activities.

The picture and quote are from the Personal Progress Manual at lds.org

Faith Value Card

I've been sick today so I spent the day goofing off, and started a really fun project--value cards for the Young Women's Personal Progress.

Here's my first one!

It's made to fit 4x6 paper, or scale down to a 2x3 for wallet size.

Soul Questioner

My son is doing an interesting blog project for a university class.  He is posting thought-provoking questions. I'd like to help him out by enlisting my readers to log on to his site and check them out.

Please post your thoughts and comments on at least one of his questions.  I'm interested to read and see other people's ideas too. If he piques your interest, you can follow him, as I am, and see how the project all works out.

Ivy League

My poor ivy has not done well in the move. It used to have strands that I could drape across the wall above my sliding glass doors. Each strand, or branch, was over seven feet long.  I don't know what I did wrong, but it did not like the move to Iowa and it has been losing leaves along large sections of its branches.

I cut off the bad sections and stuck the new sections in very damp soil, but it still fails to thrive.

I talked to Lisa, the woman who does the plants at work, and she said I should trim them to create fresh new ends and put them directly in water. I am trying an experiment to see which works better, an opaque plastic container or a clear glass container that allows light to the roots.

Right now they all look faded and thin, so I don't know if they will survive at all, but I thought it was worth a try.  I love my plants.  I hope this little ivy, which I have had for many years now, survives the move.

It's Curtain Time!

In our kitchen with the lovely chicken wallpaper, there were three bare windows, at least two of them visible from the street.  This really annoyed my husband, as he felt his privacy was being invaded. The truth is he doesn't like to have to be fully dressed every time he just wants a drink of water or something.

It took a few  months between other projects like Christmas gifts, but I finally got the window curtains all done.  Here is the finished project:

First window done, completely covered for full privacy.

The high window above the sink,
with tiebacks so I can look out.
I hate feeling closed in,
so this was a good window for a compromise.

Window Number Three--I was pleased
with the way they all matched up at the bottom.

Total cost  about $20, with scraps left over. I have made two purse linings out of the cream already, with some to spare. I have plenty of the orange fabric, so I may use it for gift bags or a sundress for Missy L.  That might be cute as a ruffled skirt with plenty of bright yellow mixed in.

These were Walmart flat twin sheets, $4 each. I can't remember if I used three or four of the cream color, and one of the orange.  They came in little fabric bags with a snap, though I don't see the point of it. I used the bags for Cookie Mix in Christmas gifts and to send Ginger's cousins off to visit Utah.
